In 2011-12 the government launched its Pupil Premium funding. This money is sent to schools and academies based on the number of pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). Since 2012-13 it has been expanded to include all children who have been eligible for FSM within the last 6 years.
This money is allocated to initiatives to ensure these pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially. Pupil Premium funds have been carefully spent and tracked to ensure that we continue to close the gap in attainment and achievement in the best interests of our pupils.
Pupil Premium funding is awarded to the school to improve the outcomes of pupils who:
- Are in receipt of Free School Meals (or have been for any period in the last 6 years)
- Children who are looked after by a local authority (or have recently left the care of the local authority)
- Children whose parents are currently serving in the Armed Forces
